Girl Alex is a local icon and leatherdyke who I simply HAD to talk to after seeing her bootblack at some events. She came prepared- phone notes, kit bag, and of course, leather jacket. We went on plenty of tangents and dropped a few hot takes on current trans discourse.

Girl Alex (she/they) is a butch transfem, leatherdyke, bootblack and unapologetic ratbag! We got to speaking about leather, bootblacking, service and history.
On Bootblacking, we talked about Huberd’s shoe grease, and Alex also recommended Leffler Leather in Naarm, Melbourne.

Alex was kind enough to share a bit about leather history, how she was a founding member of Vic Leather Inc, and is a current general member of Melbourne Leather, and about leather community values.
