Ep.14/ Tiger Salmon

Local legend Tiger Salmon joined me to share some wisdom about dyke history, beyond titillating imagery towards purpose and community. I loved talking to them about how they see their own evolving sexuality, with a relationship to catholic upbringing and the sexual politics of the 80s and 90s in Australia. A real treat of an episode, enjoy!

Tiger Salmon shared with me on the ‘whims of the flesh’, and gosh, we really did cover a lot of whims, so I’ll do my best to share links here. Substack and also Wicked Reboot.

Briefly noted about ‘Safe, Sane and Consensual’, which you can hear about how that’s evolved into different acronyms and perspectives here or here. (RACK, PRICK, and other variously useful or problematic safety approaches to kink).

Tiger has written in Archer, and hosted events like Wicked Words. They’ve also been interviewed on JOY.FM.

We mentioned Bloodletting, a spoken word and open mic night from Bo Bickmore, who you should definitely check out. Also Dykotomy and Dyke parties, where Angel Grindr performed. Brief mention of The Laird, a Melbourne Institution.

Various books like Coming to Power, On Our Backs Magazine, The Story of O, Anais Nin, Rebel Dykes movie, Backshots Magazine.

If you’re interested in zines, check out Festival of the Photocopier, and also go to the Australian Queer Archives (and sign up to support their work).
